Pronunciation tip: To help you pronounce the "U" sound, purse your lips the same way you would if you were going to whistle and then say "U".

Another way to help you say it is to say the English "E", continue to say it while you purse your lips, and you'll automatically say "U".

Let's practice "U" with a consonant.

You'll find that some of them help you say the "U" sound while others don't.

Listen and repeat:

BU CU DU FU GU JU LU MU NU PU RU SU TU VU ZU

Do this exercise as many times as necessary.

Listen to how the following words with "U" are pronounced and repeat them:

légume (vegetable)

musique (music)

menu (menu)

Well done!
